This tree fern is 3 to 4 feet tall. The fronds are bright green. It can be grown outdoors year round in zones 10 and 11, but otherwise it can be used as a houseplant. In zones 9 and lower, move the plant outdoors for the summer and then bring it indoors as a houseplant for the winter or treat it as a houseplant all year.
This elegant dwarf tree fern brings a unique architectural presence to the garden with its rosette of bright green, arching fronds attached to a short trunk. Native to rainforests, it enjoys warm, humid weather, consistent moisture and shade cast from taller plants above. This fern grows well in containers and can be brought indoors for winter to be enjoyed as a houseplant.

Maintenance Notes:Prefers moist, well drained soil with partial shade eoshade outdoors and bright light indoors. Water your silver fern once the top inch of the soil in your container is dry. Do not expose it to direct sun, which will damage the plant.
When it is actively growing maintain consistently moist soil.
As the days grow shorter and cooler (temps in the mid 50s is one indicator) in the fall, reduce watering a bit. Water only once the top layer of soil is dry. Overwatering will cause root issues.
Hard water should not be used on this fern.
When actively growing outdoors, feed using a half strength plant food once a month. When the plant isn't actively growing, plant food isn't necessary. Remove dead fronds as necessary.
Indoors, fertilize with slow-release plant food once in spring and once in summer.
