Able to divide easily - from 4 starter plants have created several new plantings. Will not grow a lot the first season but the second season seems to really come on. After dividing keep moist - has lovely golden spikes in the spring.

Maintenance Notes:Acorus is a neutral grass. Evergreen or neutral grasses are usually plants that look like grasses but aren't actually classified as grasses, they are generally called grass-like plants.
Divide evergreen or neutral grasses and grass-like plants in spring only.
Evergreen grasses don't ever go dormant. Dividing plants wounds them to some degree. For evergreen grasses this wounding will really affect their ability to live through the winter.

I put it in tall green planter pots and the look wonderful. I was wondering what to do with them in winter.Do I put them inside the garage.I don't want the pot to freeze and break. Does anyone know what to do in the winter?

I have mine growing in a concrete basket so that I can keep it very moist and in the sun. It is a wonderful accent and has done so well I'll be able to divide it soon. Love the yellow!

I love this plant, and next spring I'll look forward to dividing it and have two.

This type of grass continually improves with age. Loves moist soil. Every year it increases in beauty. Does best in bright shady areas. Recommend the Variegated Sweet Flag to anyone with clay-like soil.
