    Features

True blue flowers are never easy to find, but the truly difficult endeavor is finding true blue flowers on very heat tolerant plants. Blue My Mind® XL Evolvulus is the equivalent of hitting the jackpot. True blue flowers, loves the heat and blooms all summer long. Blue My Mind® is perfect for creating containers and can be a great garden plant, but it has a hard time keeping up with other plants in combinations. Blue My Mind® XL is more vigorous so it will keep up well with other moderately vigorous plants. If you are planting a combination recipe, that vigor is needed. If you are planting just evolvulus, the original Blue My Mind will give you the best color show.

    Maintenance Notes:

Blue My Mind® loves hot weather, in fact, the hotter the better! It will perform best in full sun and needs to be protected from even light frost. It is drought tolerant, once it is established. Plants do need to be watered well for several weeks during root establishment. While the plants can withstand drought conditions, growth and flowering are better with consistent moisture. Deadheading is unnecessary. A good dose of compost or slow release fertilizer will improve performance.

    • I cannot say enough good things about Proven Winners or this plant in particular. I have ordered from other online nurseries with mixed results. Proven Winners always sends my plants on time and in good condition. I think this is my 4th or 5th year ordering this plant and it always does well with minimum effort. I have a brick mailbox with planters at the base on each side and only one side receives full sun. It’s hard to find a plant that will thrive in both sun and shade. Not only just the evolvulus do just that it’s also very pretty and blooms for a long time. I am also notorious for forgetting to water some of my plants in the front yard and I have still never managed to kill it. It’s a very hardy, dependable little plant.

    • I can't speak highly enough of this plant. In summer 2020, in a southerly suburb of Houston, I planted them in the ground and in pots and they thrived in both locations. In February 2021, Texas was hit with the worst freeze in recorded weather history, killing even large live oak trees. As what I thought to be a pointless precaution, I placed my potted Blues in the garage and covered those in the ground with a sheet, fully expecting to lose every plant, inside and out. Those in the unheated garage were not covered and suffered only minor damage. Those outside froze to the ground. All branches turned grey and brittle. Not a one escaped. In April, the outside plants began showing bits of green at their base. Today, every plant I placed in the ground not only survived but is flourishing and close to reaching their full 16" spread. All plants are in full bloom and just glorious!
