Use Supertunia Mini Vista Indigo petunia in hanging baskets, window boxes, landscaping and combinations planters. The spreading habit makes it ideal as a trailing petunia for hanging baskets, while the vibrant blooms of this indigo petunia add bold color to containers and garden beds.

    Maintenance Notes:

These heat tolerant petunia plants aren't particularly fussy and need little routine maintenance. The Supertunia Mini Vista Indigo petunia will perform best if an application of controlled release fertilizer is included at the time of planting. This applies to both landscape and container plantings.

Supertunias are heavy feeders, but a single dose is usually sufficient for landscape beds in most climates. If you have a very long season, a second application of controlled release plant food should be considered for landscape plantings. In general, containers need to be fed more than landscape plants. Supertunias in containers will need to be fed more regularly to keep this indigo petunia performing its absolute best.

A second application of a controlled release fertilizer can be applied about every two months to container plants, which will help. However, for the very best performance I find regularly applying water soluble fertilizer starting about two months after the containers are planted gives the best results.  These extra applications of plant food really makes a difference in performance through the summer for this heat tolerant petunia.

If your plant begins to look open or a bit tired, an allover trim can be beneficial.  Use a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears to trim back up to 1/3 of the volume of the plant. I pair any trim with a dose of water soluble fertilizer to provide instant energy to help kickstart new growth, branching and flowering on this Supertunia Mini Vista Indigo petunia. Your plant will take a week to recover from the trim, but the end result is a fuller plant with more blooms going forward. You may repeat the trim as needed through the season for lush trailing petunia for hanging baskets displays.

    • I planted two Mini Vista Indigo plants in each of two 12" hanging pots in a sunny area. These petunias have a very compact, even growth habit. My plants have had loads of purple flowers all season. One of the baskets developed a problem with mites, but a couple sprayings of insecticidal soap cleared that up. We are into late September now and have had frost, but the plants are still looking very good. I was very pleased with them this year.

    • Unbelievable! This plant produces and produces and produces! We had drifts of this planted in our landscape this year and it was the most asked about plant by our neighbors. It is a stunning purple/blue that has more blooms on it than you can count and a lovely compact habit. It stays much shorter than 12 inches... closer to 4-6... Great for use as a ground cover and massive pops of color!

    • Gorgeous mounding habit absolutely loaded with blooms. The color is rich and vibrant. Visible from the sidewalk in front of my home, people stop and ask about it all the time.
