The first-ever 'Nikko'-type deutzia with pink flowers - over ten years in the making!

Perfectly pretty pink flowers on a deutzia. A shower of elegant pink flowers creates a carpet of color. Great for mass plantings because of its neat, mounded habit and burgundy-purple fall color, this tough, adaptable plant makes an excellent groundcover, especially on a sunny slope.

Top three reasons to plant Yuki Cherry Blossom® Deutzia:

    • Pink, bell-like flowers cover the plant in spring
    • Loves sun and resists deer

    • This is an absolute stunner in the fall! I got it in the summer with bright green foliage but the fall colors are even better! I can't wait to see it bloom in the spring.

    • I bought 4 of these about 5 years ago. Planted in full sun and they struggled so moved to part shade. So far they have grown, but no flowers. So far unimpressed, but I keep hoping........

    • I planted this in zone 4 and this is the second year it has been in the ground. It bloomed beautifully this spring and survived the cold winter. We had a ton of snow this winter and temperatures in to -20 to -30 degrees (celsius). It is in sheltered spot along the side of the house and get morning/early afternoon sun, and then shade into mid afternoon. Don’t have it in the greatest of soil, decently sandy. Last year it died back partially, I pruned it back and this year it seems to have had a ton of new growth and filled in nicely. Currently have very hot dry weather so will see how it handles it. But so far am pleased with it, very beautiful colour and nice foliage.

    • Received Yuki Cherry Blossom as a birthday gift last year. One of the MOST stunning plants in my yard. I have had Chardonnay Pearls for years and it’s also a stunner. Unfortunately the rabbits loved the Yuki Cherry and I was afraid I would have no blooms this year since it blooms on old wood but luckily I discovered the damage in time and put a fence around it. The first buds opened today and I can’t wait for the entire shrub to be in glorious bloom.

    • Wow. this plant took off in my garden, which has a southern exposure -- zone 7 - NJ. It is more than 2' diameter after one year. Bigger than expected. I have to cut it back. Yikes!

    • I bought three of these shrubs and loved them so much I bought seven more. Tidy mounds covered with light pink flowers in late spring. Doing equally well In sun and part shade.

    • I planted four of this deutzia in my full sun landscape. They looked gorgeous next to roses and dwarf boxwood. I live in Pennsylvania and we've had a wet year, but it appears that they couldn't handle the sun. They turned black and have a dry appearance, even with watering on dry days. Everything else is flourishing. I would love to incorporate the deutzia to a shadier area of my landscape in the future.

    • Have had great success with D. g. Nikko, so was eager to add this plant to our garden. Performed so well through our wet, warm spring, that I have now added 15 to our garden at the front of shrub borders and people comment on the plants looking like azaleas when in bloom. Great green all summer despite heat and humidity, and dense arching stems in winter dusted with snow are very attractive. More garden centers should offer this plant.
